Janice Waddell Obituary
On Tuesday, June 11, 2019, Janice Dawn Waddell, loving wife and mother of two children, passed away at the age of 63. A true, Nashville native, Janice was the third generation of her family to work for AT&T, which she did for over 35 years. She married her "dollbaby," John Waddell on August 25, 1979 and together they raised two children, Zachary and Whitney just south of Nashville.
Janice had a passion for pretty dishes, card games, musicals and travel. The last two of which went hand in hand. In the past several years she managed to see Hamilton in Chicago, and Hello Dolly in New York. But she also loved the beach and enjoyed trips with her best friend Lynne Myers to the beach and several Caribbean cruises with her sisters. When she wasn't globe trotting she could be found playing one of her favorite card games which were Canasta, Hearts, Phase 10, and Spades.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Peggy Bowlin and Odie Thomas Taylor. She is survived by her husband, John and children Zachary (Jena) and Whitney. She is also survived by her two precious grandsons, John Arthur and Jackson Wade Waddell.
Janice was blessed to have five wonderful siblings that survive her, Vickie (Steve) Hunt, Tommy Taylor, Dolly (Tommy) Peay, Billie (Terry) Odom, Elaine (Ibrahim) Karamustafic, as well as several aunts, cousins, and nieces and nephews.
The past several years Janice and her family have had the unfortunate pleasure to meet many great Care Partners (Charisma), Nurses (Brenna, Mark, and many more), and Doctors (Savani) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and the family wishes to thank them for everything they did to make a terrible situation easier with their caring and kindness.
Visitation will be held at the Ellis Funeral Home from 4PM-7PM on Thursday, June 13th and again on Friday, June 14th 10AM to 12PM with the funeral services to follow. Private interment for the family will follow afterwards at Mount Olivet. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate in Janice's name to the Hospital Hospitality House of Nashville which provides affordable temporary housing options for families with unexpected medical crises.
