Penelope Vernon Obituary

Penny Trenholm (McCammon) Vernon
It is with great sorrow that the family of Penny Vernon announces that she passed away suddenly on March 23, 2018.

Penny was born on February 17, 1944, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She was a ballerina with Les Grands Ballet Canada and graduated from Sir George Williams University. She and her husband and two children moved to Columbus, Ohio and then to Brentwood, Tennessee. In Tennessee, she volunteered at the Dede Wallace Crisis Center and led exercise dance classes. When her children were in high school, she went back to school and received her Masters in Psychology from MTSU. She worked at the Counseling Center at Vanderbilt University before joining the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. While at NASBA, she rose to be a president of one of the divisions and she and her husband, Gene Vernon, lived in Guam for a year where they established the first testing site for the CPA exam in a U.S. territory. She loved to watch tennis, especially Wimbledon and was a Cleveland Browns fan.

She is survived by her adoring husband of 18 years, Gene, her daughter, Jenna McCammon Bedsole (Chess) of Birmingham, Alabama, her son, Robbie McCammon (Jennifer) of Brentwood, her sister, Mary Trenholm McCauley (Jim) of Pointe Claire, Quebec, her brother, Bob Trenholm (Lina) of Ottawa, Ontario, and her 4 grandchildren, Helen Bedsole, Kate McCammon, Patrick McCammon and Cameron Bedsole. She is remembered and cherished by her many nieces and nephews.

A family celebration of this wonderful mother, sister, wife, and friend loved so dearly was held on March 23rd. Memorial donations may be made to the Dede Wallace Society, Centerstone Foundation, 44 Vantage Way, Suite 400, Nashville, TN 37228 or www.Centerstone.org or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org.
