. Hugh Vernon Solomon, Jr. born December 2, 1926, in Murfreesboro, TN. died Wednesday, November 27, 2013.
Mr. Hugh Solomon was the middle child of Hugh Vernon Solomon, Sr. and Lola Smith Solomon. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Lesa S. Abell, sister Rubylynn S. Haren and best friend Adron Leming. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Angelia Morrell Solomon, son David Mark Solomon and wife Julie. Followed by Chuck Haren, Bill Solomon, his wife Pat and several nieces and nephews as well as 2 great nephews and 3 great nieces.
Mr. Solomon loved children and at the death of his good friend, Mr.Leming, acted as a surrogate grandfather to his grandchildren, Ashley Hodge Rooker, Drew Hodge and great grandchild, Bailee Drew Rooker as well as his own great niece, Angelia Fogarty and special friends Billy and Katie Blackwell.
Hugh Solomon proudly served his country in World War II in the United States Air Force and graduated Vanderbilt University in 1950. He retired from American Paper and Twine Company in 1997, serving as the credit and office manager for 41 years.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, from 4pm to 8pm at his home church, Pennington Bend United Methodist Church, Nashville, TN. His family and friends celebrate his life on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 11am, also at Pennington Bend United Methodist. Hugh Vernon Solomon, Jr. will be buried at the Middle Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery at 2pm with full military honors. He will be greatly missed.
The family request in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made in Hugh Solomon's name to Pennington Bend United Methodist Church, 2745 Pennington Bend Road, Nashville, TN. 37214.
