Mrs. Dorothy C. McDearmon DeRossett, a retired dormitory supervisor at Tennessee Preparatory School, passed away at her Nashville home on Saturday, March 5, 2016. She was 85.
Graveside services are set for Noon, Monday, Mar. 7, in Hopewell Cemetery, in Gleason, Tenn. Pastor Eddie Slaubaugh of Creekmont General Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, Tenn., will officiate.
Mrs. DeRossett was the widow of the Bennie B. DeRossett, also a retired TPS employee. She was a native of Gleason and the daughter of Lester McDearmon and Della Williams McDearmon, who preceded her in death.
She served as a dormitory supervisor and house mom of hundreds of TPS students at the Foster Avenue facility for 34 years before her retirement in 1997.
She is survived by one son, Frank (Kathy) Gibson, Lutz, FL; two daughters, Judy Kay (Tommy) Allison, Nashville, and Darlene Lumpkin, Murfreesboro, TN; four grandchildren, James Burnice. Booker, Nashville; Melissa (Charles) Thompson, Lavergne, TN; James Lamar Lumpkin, Murfreesboro; and Amy Caroline (David) Sullivan, Lutz, FL; five great-grandchildren, Melanie Hooper and Brian Cullen, Nashville; Seth McGathey, LaVergne, TN; Keely Caroline and Alexander Gibson Sullivan, Lutz, FL, a sister, Mildred B. Webb, Carmi, IL.
