Clyde Marlyn Whitlock was born 11-24-1942 in Floyd, VA and died 9-29-2020
Nashville, TN due to medical complications from COVID-19. Clyde is survived by his wife of 56 years Arline Whitlock and his three children
Marlina (Mike) Meador, Malinda Whitlock, and Mark Whitlock. Clyde is also
survived by three grandchildren Caitlin Meador, Michael Meador Jr., Corabelle (Luis) Ramirez, and one great-grandchild Dominic Ramirez.
Clyde is also survived by his siblings Dale Whitlock, Almeda (Richard) Conner, Perry (Candy) Whitlock, Rebekah Kinsley, Joe Whitlock, sister-in laws Stella Lois Whitlock and Elizabeth Whitlock, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family.
Clyde is preceded in death by his son Clyde Marlyn Whitlock II, by his parents Elinos & Estella Whitlock and by his siblings Alton Whitlock, Arthur Whitlock, Robert Whitlock, and Ollie Whitlock. Clyde was born and raised in Virginia on the family farm. He worked the farm with his family and he worked various jobs in the area. He graduated with his High School Diploma in Floyd, VA. Clyde then moved to Nashville to study auto mechanics in 1963. He went to work for Gordy's Garage that was owned by Arline's father. This is where they met and started their lives together. Clyde continued to work as a mechanic for various companies. He started his business in 1985 and continued to do mechanical work until he started truck driving in 2006.
In his life, Clyde loved his family fiercely, worked tirelessly, and gave himself to those he loved in his life. He had a sense of humor, a loving heart, and was loved by all who knew him. Due to COVID-19 concerns the family is having an immediate family only viewing at the funeral home and a Celebration of Life will be scheduled when it is safe for us to honor him.
