Carol Jean Tenpenny

Carol Jean Tenpenny of Nashville, TN passed away March 3, 2017 at the age of 87, while surrounded by her family and loved ones in the comfort of her home. Carol was a loving, dedicated mother and was known for being a doting grandparent to her beloved grandchildren. She was the anchor who kept the family strong and close-knit. Carol loved to collect antiques and was overjoyed with the history each piece brought her. She was an artist with a creative soul who loved to paint and travel to Florida. She also retired from South Central Bell.
Carol Jean Tenpenny had a warm soul and will be dearly missed.

Preceded in death by her parents Tom and Lena Utley, husband James "Butch" Tenpenny, daughter Carol Waller Stillings, son James Mitchell "Mitch" Tenpenny Jr., sisters Lois Bloomfield and Janet R. Rice and grandson Phillip Stillings.
She is survived by her son Tony (Robbie) Tenpenny, daughter-in-law Debbie Tenpenny, and her beloved grandchildren; Cerise Kattell, Mitchell Tenpenny, Rayford Tenpenny, Ira Tenpenny and great-grandchild Ryan Kattell.

In honor of Carol's life, a Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 12:00 p.m., with Martin Ray officiating, in the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. The visitation will be Wednesday, March 8, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, March 9 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home.
Carol will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery on Thursday after the service.
