Camille Holroyd Obituary
Camille Tharpe Holroyd, 73, of Nashville, Tenn, passed away on October 13, 2018, at her home in Nashville, Tenn.
The family will welcome visitors on Sunday, October 21, at Main Street United Methodist Church in Greenwood, SC, beginning at 1:30 pm. Funeral services will be held at the church at 3:00 pm, immediately following visitation.
Camille was born in Greenwood, SC on June 29, 1945. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1963 and attended Lander University. She married William Holroyd, also of Greenwood, on March 15, 1969, and they lived in several cities around the country before they ultimately divorced in 1986, when Camille re-settled in Greenwood. She worked as a secretary and teacher's aide for Greenwood School District 50 for nearly 30 years, having spent most of that time at the G. Frank Russell Career Center. Those who knew her well will remember her obsessive love of coffee, thrift shopping, scrapbooking, and flower gardening. She was always prepared well in advance for any trip, and this last journey was no exception.
Camille is preceded in death by her loving parents, Leon Tharpe and Vera Johnson Tharpe.
Camille is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Holliday, of Nashville, Tenn; her brother, Mack Tharpe, of Greenwood, SC; and many other beloved family members, including an aunt, several cousins, a niece, and four nephews. Additionally, Camille is survived by several members of the Holroyd family, including a brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and several nephews. She will also be remembered by a special friend, Starr Clark, of Greenwood, SC, who was more like a daughter than a friend.
Flowers are a welcome memorial, but in lieu of flowers, gifts to Avalon Hospice in Nashville, Tenn, or to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation are also appreciated.
